- Advise and assist in the recruitment and on-boarding of a well-qualified research team composed of two senior and two junior researchers in collaboration with the Activity Manager.
- Provide overall guardianship, supervision, and guidance to the research team.
- Establish specific work assignments, deliverables, and deliverable schedules in consultation with the team.
- Draft the inception report to include final research design, work plan, timeline, list of key informants, and desk research sources.
- Conduct a desk study review of relevant and available documents and datasets
- Direct and oversee additional desk study undertaken by the research team.
- Compile a list of individual and institutional stakeholders to invite to key informant interviews (KII) or focus group discussions (FGD) in collaboration with the research team.
- Identify sites and dates for observation visits to USAID project activities or other relevant events as appropriate.
- Consolidate desk top research summaries and evaluation as well as synthesize summaries into a succinct literature review in English.
- Guide the formulation of research questions and protocols for semi-structured KIIs and FGDs.
- Oversee, supervise, and support researchers’ planning and implementation of KIIs, FGDs, and site visits or activity observation.
- Induce the review and inquiry of data collected through from semi-structured KIIs, FDGs and site observations to produce a thorough interpretation of the findings from the research team’s field work.
- Prompt the drafting of the assessment report in English to include reasoning, key findings, and recommendations, integrating and consolidating contributions from other team members.
- Produce and deliver briefings on the study and presentation of key findings in collaboration and/or consultation with the Activity Manager.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social sciences with course work or study related to gender, social inclusion, inclusive political and economic participation, or related subjects required.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in designing and/or conducting analyses of political, economic, social developments in West Bank and Gaza, focused on gender, rights and empowerment of marginalized groups, social inclusion, or related topics required.
- Demonstrated ability to consolidate and synthesize data from literature and interview summaries, analyze key points and insights, write concise, coherent reports, produce, and deliver brief, pointed oral presentations of findings, respond to questions and comments, incorporate feedback.
- Experience in drafting, implementing, and overseeing implementation of qualitative research instruments through KIIs and FGDs.
- Experience in training and coaching less experienced researchers in ethical data collection on sensitive subjects such as gender-based violence.
- Extensive knowledge of West Bank and Gaza laws and public policies that affect the rights and freedoms of women residents, gender equality, social inclusion, gender-based violence, youth, disability, and gender agendas and economic and political development issues.
- Experience in supervising multiple staff members, managing a team, assigning, and monitoring tasks to individuals, facilitating collaborative teamwork.
- Demonstrated leadership and relationship management skills and keen awareness of and sensitivity to West Bank Gaza’s political and social context.
- Knowledge and experience related to integration of gender perspectives into projects funded by USAID or other international donors.
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel software packages required.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills in English language required.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic required.
