Job Opportunity 
 
The Union of Charitable Societies–Jerusalem (UCS) is the first Palestinian national, non-profit, independent Union for the civil, charitable and development societies. It was founded in Jerusalem in 1958. It seeks to closely contribute to building an effective Palestinian civil society through advancing the Palestinian civil work in an institutionalized and democratic manner and according to the principles of good governance and accountability in order to contribute to the national development and sustainable development. The Union of Charitable Societies–Jerusalem (UCS) invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the following posts:
 
Job title: Fundraising and Partnerships Officer 
 
Type of Contract: Consultancy contract.  
Position number: R.M/5/2022
Report to: Director-General (DG)
Location: Based in Jerusalem or Beit Jala.
Salary: Salary dependent upon experience.

Entry requirements

  • Project management
  • Planning and analysis skills.
  • High level of writing in Arabic and English.
  • Good accounting and budget management skills.
  • Database administration.
  • Excellent knowledge of the NGO sector and its role.
  • The ability to work under pressure and in a flexible time. 

MAIN DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To meet UCS agreed fundraising targets.
  • Develop and implement UCS’s fundraising and communication strategies and plans.
  • Maintain a donor management information system of current and potential donors.
  • Design and deliver new approaches to fundraising such as high-level donor engagement, direct mail campaigns, legacy promotion and identification of suitable trust and foundation support to increase funding at both national level and international level.
  • Responsible for information management, including needs assessments; preparation of situation analysis reports and concept papers to support the submission of proposals for funding.
  • Raise significant funding for UCS programs and activities and explore new and alternative source of funding. 
  • Develop and submit funding proposals including drafting, editing, coordinating the assimilation of content from others, and submitting proposals on time.
  • Managing the UCS grants system and supervising the process of submitting proposals.
  • Checking applications meet funding criteria.
  • Administering grant payments.
  • Manage existing grants by: tracking grants; developing internal reporting systems; writing reports; maintaining excellent historical records; working with staff to ensure each project is meeting proposal conditions and expectations.
  • Work with other Charities/ Partnerships in joint initiatives ensuring that the values, and Objectives of the UCS are represented at all times.
  • Provide technical support to member associations in the field of project writing.
  • Manage the fundraising campaigns’ financial targets and budgets through monitoring performance and adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Ensure adequate visibility of UCS by supervising the development and periodic production, both in published and electronic forms, of high quality public information tools, such as periodic progress reports, annual reports, articles, press releases, advertisements, newsletters and promotional videos.
  • Be responsible for the digital environment of the UCS to ensure effective use of Website and other social media.
  • Representing UCS’s memberships in various local and international networks, and providing them with updates about UCS’s work on a constant basis as requested by the director.
  • Conducting field visits with all potential donors and partners for projects’ sites and activities, making photographs and collating case studies from the field that would be used within the fundraising and communications activities.
  • Provide regular reports to the DG on progress on each project.
  • To undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the DG relating to fundraising.

Qualifications/ Experiences:   

  • B.A degree from an accredited university in Development, Social Science, Public or International Relations, Marketing, Public or Business Administration or any related field.
  • At least 5 years proven experiences and track record in fundraising, Public relations, and projects management in the social and development fields. 
  • Self-starter with initiative and drive and ability to think creatively and identify opportunities.
  • High level of experience in Project Cycle Management.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Arabic language.
  • A strong sense of diplomacy, sociability and interpersonal communication.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally with groups and individuals.
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely about complex issues.
  • The ability to analyze complex information and figures.
  • Fair and objective decision making ability.
  • Organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to demonstrate computer literacy including use of fundraising databases and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Driving license.
