About Educaid
EducAid is an International Non-Governmental Organization established in Italy in March 2000
and recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It promotes the rights of Persons with
Disabilities in various countries, including the Occupied Palestinian Territories, through
interaction with associations, social enterprises and enthusiastic individuals ethically involved in
the educational and social work. Its mission is to prevent and reduce the disadvantages and
obstacles of individuals with disabilities or those who live in social and cultural difficulties.
Additionally, EducAid seeks to build the capacity of the individuals and institutions in terms of
education through different means but most notably by building an educational system where all
the resources in the community thrive through the education system. Furthermore, EducAid aims
to ensure the ultimate respect of human rights, in particular the rights of children, persons with
disabilities and minority groups, and to encourages policies oriented to gender equality.

JOB PURPOSE:
EducAis is seeking a motivated and pro-active Communication Officer who is able to provide
expertise in the field of communication and boost its communication activities in Palestine.

Duties and Responsibilities
Developing and implementing EducAid communication strategy in Palestine and measure its
effectiveness.
Planning, editing and production of content for a variety of internal and external channels (radio,
TV, social media, newsletter, face to face and virtual meeting)
Providing support to communication initiatives from HQ
Ensuring that organizational activities and projects are successfully supported and communicated
to staff and key external stakeholders
Creating communication contents and planning activities to ensure visibility to EducAid
activities and projects
Supervising the production and the editing of multimedia contents dedicated to the
communication

Skills/Qualifications:
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree in communication, social media or in any other relevant
studies. 
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience, preferably in international NGOs
- Very good affinity for media contexts, including knowledge of a wide range of multimedia,
web and digital tools.
- Solid experience using social media in a professional context. 
- Advanced understanding of the country media and communications environments.
- Outstanding writing, re-writing and editing skills.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing goal-oriented communication strategy for
non-profit organizations.

-Availability to travel inside the Country and document field activities.
- Strong commitment to learning new skills and willingness to be accompanied toward the

JOB SUMMARY:
 
 The Communications Officer reports directly to the Country Director (CD) or Head of Office (HOO) in the respective country and technically to the Communications Manager, Country Programs (HQ). The incumbent also works closely with and receives guidance from the Marketing and Communications Team at Right To Play’s Headquarters.
 
The Communications Officer is responsible for leading the Country Office’s communications activities, and for contributing to the organization's marketing and communications objectives.
 
The Communications Officer contributes to building and enhancing Right To Play's overall public image and brand awareness in the country through public outreach, media relations, and social media management. The incumbent supports local advocacy and fundraising efforts and project success by creating effective advocacy and communications materials and supports with coordination and communication for events and visits from key stakeholders.
 
The Communications Officer is an important part of the Global Communications Team. The incumbent contributes to Right To Play’s global fundraising and awareness efforts by collecting and developing multimedia content that communicates the impact of our programs on the lives of children and youth.
 
The incumbent works closely with the Country Office’s Program Manager, and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
   Job Responsibility #1 Planning and Compliance: (35% of Time):
  • Develops and implements an annual communications plan, in line with the Country Office’s strategy plan and the needs of program funders and Right To Play's global communications objectives and plan.
  • Ensures that all communications materials and messages are in-line with project grant agreements and donor requirements.
  • Conducts field visits to project sites and ensures proper dissemination of information for events and success stories.
  • Ensures proper documentation of communications materials.
  • Conducts ongoing review of the communications plan and communications components of country action and strategic plans to ensure compliance; identifies gap areas and recommends solutions.
  • Ensures RTP promotion of various International “Days” such as Child Day, Diabetes Day are in-line with national strategy and behavioural and social goals.
  • Facilitates field visits by VIPs including donors, partners, board members, Athlete Ambassadors, media, global staff and international consultants working for Right To Play in the respective country. This includes planning events, developing itineraries, etc.
  • Plays a key role in the development and dissemination of behaviour change communication messages and social mobilization campaigns.
  • Ensures compliance with Right To Play brand and messaging guidelines, Right To Play Policies (including in particular, Right To Play’s Child Safeguarding policy), and other policies as needed, and any relevant government legislation.
  • Contributes to the Global Communications Team by attending quarterly meetings and supporting on special projects
Job Responsibility #2: Communication: (35% of Time):
  • Develops systems for effective and efficient communications and best practice sharing within the country office.
  • Creates compelling photo, video, and written collateral and content that communicates Right To Play’s work and impact.
  • Collaborates with the HQ Communications and Marketing Team to fulfill communications requests
  • Oversees photo, video and message archiving in the Country Office
  • Develops a system to produce personal stories, quotes and photographs of Coaches and children in our programs; oversees photo archiving.
  • Develops informational and promotional material on RTP projects.
  • Trains country team on the value and usage of the brand.
  • Liaises with printing and design companies, edits design when required.
  • Oversees and approves all print proofs in the country before being printed including T-shirts and documents.
  • Creates and edits designs for communications materials and brand merchandise and liaises with printing and design companies to see them realised.
  • Manages the Country Offices social media and communication platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Workplace, Sharepoint and Playspace. As part of their social media management role, the incumbent ensures that the Country Office’s social media accounts are on brand and on message.
  • Acts as a focal point on the “play-space” intranet, where applicable.
 
Job Responsibility #3: Media and public relations:: (25%):
 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with country, and locally based media.
  • Closely monitors and tracks media coverage for RTP and sport for development in country.
  • Establishes contacts with media and writes media releases and success stories.
  • Conducts media development activities in country to build capacity of local media to advocate for the role of sport for development and the role sport can do in meeting development goals.
  • Accompanies and supports visitors to the country when delegated.
  • Works with the Country Office team to develop and implement media relations strategy for any high-profile visit to the country/region including preparing background materials and relevant packages.
 
Performs other duties as assigned (5% of Time)

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:
 
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field
 
EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years’ experience with I/NGOs in the country of operation in a communications role.

  • Experience collecting success stories
  • Experience media relations and managing social media accounts

Name of Project: Operation of the Business Centre at JAIP to advance and innovate productive sectors of Palestine

Background

Small Enterprise Center (SEC) Association is a Palestinian non-profit organization that was founded in 2002. In 2008, SEC was officially registered as an independent non-profit organization governed by the Palestinian Law of Charitable Associations and Community Organizations No.1 for the year 2000. SEC is a leading national organization serving Palestinian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and social enterprises (including cooperatives) over Palestine where Gaza Office has started provision of business development services for MSMEs since 2008.

SEC is currently an implementing partner of the project “Operation of the Business Centre at JAIP to advance and innovate productive sectors of Palestine”, in partnership with UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) and The Palestinian Investment Promotion and Industrial Estate Agency (IPIEA). The project focuses on the establishment and operationalization of a Palestinian Business Prosperity Centre (PALPRO) at Jericho Agro-Industrial Park (JAIP) aiming at supporting MSMEs and mature startups with growth potential in their business development and market opportunities in Palestine and abroad. The project is funded by the Government of Japan and shall be seen as a part of a larger programme aiming at enhancing JAIP’s position as a sustainable economic development model in Palestine by supporting and expanding Palestine's agricultural and food processing value chains and ensure high-leveled technology for environmental protection, conservation of energy and efficient management.

Under the scope of this project, SEC is looking forward to hiring a Communications Officer to perform all required communication and outreach tasks for PALPRO to promote the project, its activities and results among beneficiaries, stakeholders, development partners and a wider audience, thereby increasing the impact and visibility of the project itself, while highlighting the results achieved and the partnerships created.

Work location: Jericho (with frequent visits to beneficiaries in the West Bank)

Type of contract:  Part-Time (50%)- 2.5 days a week

2.0 Objectives of the assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to promote PALPRO Centre, its activities and results among beneficiaries, stakeholders, development partners and a wider audience, thereby increasing the impact and visibility of the project itself, while highlighting the results achieved and the partnerships created.

3.0 Job Description

The contracted officer will be working closely with the project staff on the below tasks/deliverables:

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications materials and events to target audiences;
  • Preparation of social media/website reports in Arabic and English (agreed key indicators to be tracked like outreach, engagement, negative feedback, etc.);
  • Design of promotional material, and support in its production as needed;
  • Design of other comms materials (calendars, greeting cards, posters, reports, etc.) as needed;
  • Support the capacity of partners and beneficiaries in their communications strategies;

4.0 Qualifications and Work Experience of the Candidate

It is expected that the candidate shall provide the following expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the media production, visibility, communication and outreach, social media and website management;
  • Demonstrate ability to develop innovative, high quality, engaging media outputs;
  • Demonstrate professional photography and graphic designing/illustrating skills, video conception, production and editing;
  • Demonstrate professional writing skills for comms related materials in both Arabic and English;
  • Demonstrate the ability to narrate complex data in a visually compelling manner;
  • Have presence and access to all West Bank;
  • Previous experience with development agencies is desirable.

 Other skills:

  • Strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (Team Player);
  • Ability to work independently – with minimum supervision and guidance from supervisors;
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and online applications);

5.0 Language Requirements

All communication materials will be developed and disseminated in both Arabic and English. The candidate may be asked to provide translation services for certain content.

6.0 Duration of Appointment

The contract will be effective from the date of signing and will be in effect until the end of March 2023.

The expected level of effort of the officer is 50% during the project period, which is reflected in 2.5 days per week. The division of the days will be agreed upon between the contracting parties. This assignment is required to start as soon as possible.

7.0 Working arrangements

The duty station of this assignment is Jericho (with frequent visits to beneficiaries in the West Bank). The Communications Officer reports to SEC Project Manager and PALPRO Centre Manager.

For further information about Caritas Jerusalem, please visit: www.caritasjr.org Caritas Jerusalem is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the following position: Position Title: Communications and Resource Development Officer Position Type: Full time Contract Period: 12 months contract, renewable Location: Jerusalem Starting date: ASAP Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: • Writing Content and proofreading materials in English, and Arabic. • Managing Social Media Networks for the organization. • Maintaining and developing new content for the website. • Writing periodic newsletters and annual reports. • Developing fundraising proposals for projects that could attract new funding and researching and reaching out to potential donors, grants, and foundations. • Reviewing and editing project reports and supporting documentation, submitted by the Head of Departments for onward submission to funders. • Frequent visits to Gaza Strip.

Required Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Media, Journalist, or any other related field. • Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software • Arabic - mother tongue • High level of English • At least 1-2 years of work experience in the field • Willingness to promote the overall mission of Caritas Jerusalem • Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, etc…) • Very strong writing, proofreading, and copy-editing skills • Ability to take direction, learn quickly and take the initiative • Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills • Creative, detail-oriented, highly organized, and with excellent time management skills • The ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines • Willingness to make a long-term commitment to the position. • Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment. • Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management • Good communication skills and ability to work as a member of a team. • Commitment to CJ Code of Conduct and Safeguarding ethics and policies. • Adhere to Caritas Jerusalem’s mission and core values. • Ability to drive in Jerusalem.
