ABOUT US:
Al-Ard for Agricultural Development is a Palestinian civil society organization engaged in strengthening and empowering Palestinian farmer to acquire the capacity of accessing his/her natural resources and basic rights.
Our organization’s main focus target groups are vulnerable farmers in poor and remote communities (including male/female small farmers and youth farmers). At Al-Ard, we attach special importance to youth farming groups. Thanks to their high energy and enthusiastic approach, we believe that the youth are the most important working engine for change and movement of societies towards improving their economic and social conditions and ultimately eliminating poverty, as we believe that poverty is not inevitable.
Job Summary:
Community Development Officers are responsible for managing the planning and development of communities. They are also involved with the assessment of community needs. They work with local governments, private organizations, and individuals to ensure that their community is healthy, safe, and prosperous.
Tasks:
- Work directly with communities of the region to promote community-led development including preparation and prioritization of community development plans for local improvement.
- Work to expand partnerships and cooperation between community organizations and stakeholders for the implementation of local community projects.
- Work with community organizations to initiate social and economic/environmental development strategies in community sites of the region.
- Work as a trainer and resource person in the trainings organized for the communities and other partners in the region.
- Support the establishment/strengthening of local/international level networks.
- Prepare progress reports, and other reports as required by the organization.
- Promote project through stories, articles and other PR activities.
- Organize special relevant events.
- Participate in planning and budgeting, preparation of work plans, implementation of planned activities, and monitoring/reporting of progress.

Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal skills,
- Time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and conceptual skills for the promotion of economic and social development
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills (including, MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Knowledge of local community development principles in Palestine.
- Familiarity with the rights-based approach to development;
- Ability to set priorities, meet specific objectives, and use knowledge.
- Good interpersonal skills, diligence, open-mindedness, and dedication.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Social Work, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or other relevant areas;
- 3 years of relevant experience, including 2 years of practical experience in a field related to human rights/access to justice/community security, community mobilization, or civic activism or related area.
- Experience in working with government and non-government organizations
- Experience in writing reports and analytical documents.
- Excellent English skills (writing and speaking).
