Job Description 

The Psychologist will report directly to the Psychosocial Program Manager at the TYO center in Nablus. S/he will provide personalized psychotherapy for the families and individuals enrolled in TYO’s programs. The Psychologist will work with the Psychosocial Program Manager to identify families’ most critical needs and develop and implement customized intervention plans for families and individuals. The Psychologist will advance TYO’s holistic, systemic efforts to promote individual, family, and community well-being. Like all TYO staff, the Psychologist will dedicate energy towards improving the social-emotional well-being of the Nablus community.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties Not Limited To)

  • Provide regular psychotherapy sessions at the TYO center in Nablus for families and individuals. 
  • Follow up with clients on a regular basis to monitor psychosocial well-being. 
  • Discuss client progress and needs with the Psychosocial Program Manager. 
  • Develop treatment plans tailored to families’ unique educational, financial, medical, security, and mental health needs. 
  • Research and stay current about effective psychotherapy treatment methods in Palestine, the Middle East, and the world. 
  • Coordinate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to monitor implementation of families’ treatment plans. 
  • Communicate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to share research and adapt and revise families’ treatment plans on a regular basis. 
  • Plan and implement psychology/social work practicum for youth ages 20-35. 
  • Collaborate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to develop training materials for psychology and social work practicum. 
  • Lead training sessions in psychotherapy and family therapy methods. 
  • Guide practicum participants during field work component of trainings. 
  • Mentor participants about further opportunities to build psychotherapy expertise. 
  • Gather and analyze data about families’ progress. 
  • Communicate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to monitor, evaluate, and report about psychotherapy sessions. 
  • Coordinate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to report about program observations and families’ ongoing needs. 

Qualifications

  • BA in psychology. MA strongly preferred. 
  • Knowledge about different educational, financial, medical, security, and mental health resources available in the Nablus Governorate and throughout Palestine. 
  • Strong knowledge of multiple family therapy approaches. 
  • Knowledge about social work, psychology, and other mental health research and training programs available in Palestine. 
  • 3-5 years of practical experience providing psychotherapy to disadvantaged populations, preferably in the West Bank of Palestine. 
  • Experience developing and implementing psychotherapy trainings for youth ages 20-35. 
  • Experience collaborating with social workers, psychologists, and other mental health professionals to discuss specific cases and accomplish common goals. 
  • Experience  triaging mental health cases to prioritize clients with the greatest needs. 
  • Experience  monitoring, evaluating, and reporting about multiple cases on a regular basis. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task and provide high-quality psychotherapy services to multiple clients at once. 
  • Strong organizational and short and long-term planning skills. 
  • Ability to use evaluation tools and data to analyze clients’ needs. 
  • Clear commitment to TYO’s mission to empower disadvantaged children, youth, and parents to realize their potential as healthy, active and responsible family and community members. 
  • Fluency in Arabic and excellent written and spoken English.
